Daredevil: Born Again's New Trailer Hints at an Unlikely Alliance

A new trailer for Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again, premiering March 4th on Disney+, reveals a surprising development: Daredevil and Kingpin, longtime adversaries, are seemingly collaborating. This collaboration is likely fueled by a new villain, the art-obsessed serial killer, Muse.

Who is Muse?

Introduced in 2016's Daredevil #11, Muse is a recent addition to Daredevil's rogue's gallery, a character whose methods wouldn't be out of place in Hannibal. He views murder as a high art form, creating gruesome "masterpieces" using his victims. His unique ability to disrupt Daredevil's radar sense, combined with superhuman strength and speed, makes him a formidable foe.

Muse's initial conflict with Daredevil and Blindspot escalates when he blinds Blindspot. After his capture, Muse self-mutilates to prevent further artistic endeavors, only to escape and resume his killing spree. His obsession with New York's vigilantes, coupled with Mayor Fisk's anti-vigilante campaign, leads to a final confrontation with Blindspot, ending in Muse's suicide.

Muse's Return in Daredevil: Born Again

Despite his death in Daredevil #600, Muse's reappearance in the Daredevil: Born Again trailer, sporting his iconic white mask and bloody bodysuit, confirms his role in the series. This suggests the series draws inspiration from contemporary Daredevil comics, rather than solely relying on the 1986 Born Again storyline.

The trailer showcases Daredevil and Fisk meeting, hinting at a forced alliance against a common threat – likely Muse. Fisk's mayoral election and anti-vigilante stance, as seen in the Echo post-credits scene, create a scenario where both Daredevil and Fisk have reason to eliminate Muse. Daredevil seeks justice, while Fisk aims to solidify his power.

The series will also feature other vigilantes like the Punisher and White Tiger, potentially caught in the crossfire of Fisk's crusade. Muse's glorification of these figures through his art further complicates the situation.

While the Daredevil/Fisk rivalry remains central, Muse emerges as the immediate threat, potentially the most challenging opponent Daredevil has faced. His powers and brutal methods necessitate an unlikely partnership, even with the man dedicated to eradicating heroes like him.
