Microsoft Sets Xbox Games Showcase 2025 for June, Featuring The Outer Worlds 2 Direct

Microsoft has officially announced its plans for June, including the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 and a dedicated The Outer Worlds 2 Direct. As is customary, Microsoft will use its June event to spotlight upcoming Xbox games, and 2025 is no exception. The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 is scheduled to be livestreamed on Sunday, June 8, at 10am Pacific Time, 1pm Eastern Time, and 6pm UK time.

The showcase promises to offer a glimpse into the future with upcoming titles from Microsoft’s first-party studios, as well as exciting new games from third-party partners worldwide. Microsoft stated, “in addition to incredible new titles from our third-party partners across the globe,” ensuring a diverse lineup of games.

So, what might Microsoft unveil? The company has a robust slate of games in development, including the eagerly awaited new Fable, now delayed to 2026, the Perfect Dark reboot, inXile’s Clockwork Revolution, Ninja Gaiden 4, Contraband from the Just Cause series developer, Rare's Everwild, recently visited by Microsoft gaming boss Phil Spencer, The Coalition's Gears of War: E-Day, Hideo Kojima’s OD, and Undead Labs' State of Decay 3. Double Fine, known for Psychonauts, is also crafting a new title.

On the Activision Blizzard front, fans can anticipate a new Call of Duty game later this year, alongside various releases from Blizzard. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is set to launch in July, which may feature in the showcase.

As for Bethesda, could this be the moment to reveal what's next for Starfield? We're still awaiting a PlayStation 5 release date confirmation. Could we also get a sneak peek at The Elder Scrolls 6?

There's also the possibility of Microsoft unveiling new Xbox hardware. While a next-gen Xbox console and an Xbox handheld are rumored for 2027, the showcase might be too early for such announcements. However, Microsoft may discuss Xbox-branded handhelds from third-party manufacturers.

Following the successful format of the 2023 Starfield Direct and 2024 Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, Microsoft will host The Outer Worlds 2 Direct immediately after the Xbox Games Showcase. Developed by Obsidian, fresh from the release of Avowed, The Outer Worlds 2 Direct “will bring you inside the walls of Obsidian Entertainment, revealing new gameplay, details, and developer insights, straight from the people making the sequel to the award-winning, first-person sci-fi RPG.” The Outer Worlds 2 is slated for release later in 2025, and a release date announcement is anticipated during the showcase.
