Michelle Yeoh Stars in Ark: Survival Ascended's Lost Colony, Teasing Ark 2

The highly anticipated dinosaur survival game, Ark 2, which had sparked concern among fans due to delays and speculation about its development status, is officially back on track. Developer Studio Wildcard has unveiled a new expansion for the Ark: Survival Ascended remake, titled Ark: Lost Colony, signaling that the sequel is still in the works.

Ark: Lost Colony marks the first original expansion pack for Ark: Survival Ascended. The reveal trailer, crafted by the renowned anime studio Mappa (known for Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan, and Chainsaw Man), features voiceover work by Michelle Yeoh, who reprises her role as Mei Yin from Ark: The Animated Series.

Studio Wildcard promises that *Ark: Lost Colony* will include numerous high-quality anime story sequences produced by Mappa. The expansion's official description sets the scene in a new frozen world, where players will follow the legendary Ark survivor Mei Yin on a soul-searching journey into the heart of darkness, uncovering long-buried secrets of Ark's past.

The expansion introduces thrilling new challenges, positioning players as the hunted within a vast occupied city. It also offers access to new character abilities, unique gear, innovative building systems, and exotic tames. The narrative of Ark: Lost Colony directly connects the storylines of Ark's Extinction and Genesis expansions, paving the way for the events in Ark 2.

Ark 2, powered by Unreal Engine 5, is the sequel to the massively successful Ark: Survival Evolved. Initially announced with a surprise appearance by Vin Diesel at The Game Awards 2020, Ark 2 was originally slated for a 2022 release. However, it faced multiple delays, first to 2023 and then to late 2024, with plans for an Xbox Series X and S console exclusive launch, day-one availability on Game Pass, and release on PC via Steam and Windows.

Despite Studio Wildcard's assurance in December 2023 that Ark 2 was on schedule for a late 2024 release, the game did not meet this deadline, causing further concern among fans. The recent announcement of Ark: Lost Colony in early 2025 should help alleviate these worries, though Studio Wildcard has not provided a new release window for Ark 2.

For Ark: Lost Colony, pre-orders will commence in June 2025, with purchasers gaining immediate access to exclusive preview gameplay content. The full release is scheduled for November 2025, and Ark: Lost Colony will be available for $29.99 on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
