If you're diving into *Monster Hunter Wilds* and eager to master the art of defeating or capturing the Chatacabra, one of the first monsters you'll encounter, you're in the right place. This long-tongued menace is a frequent target, so let's get you up to speed on how to handle it effectively.

How to Beat Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

The Chatacabra, a formidable frog-like monster, primarily uses close-range attacks with its tongue. However, it can also charge at you if you're too far away. Given its status as one of the easier monsters to fight, any weapon can be effective, though smaller weapons like the Bow and Charge Blade might be less optimal due to the Chatacabra's size.

Most of its attacks involve its tongue, making the front of the monster the most dangerous spot. It also uses its front limbs to slam the ground, which is always preceded by it rearing up. The only attack to watch out for from behind is when it raises its head and sweeps its tongue.

To defeat the Chatacabra efficiently, position yourself near its sides. Dodge or block when it rears up for a slam attack. Utilizing its weaknesses to Ice and Thunder will make the fight even quicker, allowing you to claim your victory and perhaps even sport a new frog skin hat.

How to Capture Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing the Chatacabra follows the standard procedure in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Since it can't fly, it's a bit easier to manage than some other monsters. You'll need a Shock Trap or a Pitfall Trap and two Tranq Bombs. It's wise to bring one of each trap and a full set of eight Tranq Bombs to account for any mishaps.

Engage the Chatacabra in combat until its icon on the mini-map shows a small skull, indicating it's weakened and about to limp away to a new area for the last time. Follow it to its destination, set up your trap, and lure it in. Once trapped, use two Tranq Bombs to put it to sleep, and the capture is complete.
