A new leak has surfaced about Honkai: Star Rail, revealing that Version 3.1 will introduce a free 4-star character selector as part of a limited-time event. As the game approaches its 3.0 cycle, players can anticipate new gameplay features and characters to enhance their experience.
Currently, there are 23 4-star characters available in Honkai: Star Rail. While not all of them rank high in the meta, characters like Moze and Gallagher have quickly become fan favorites due to their versatility. However, to maximize their potential, these 4-star units often require higher Eidolon levels. In previous updates, such as Versions 2.1 and 2.7, Honkai: Star Rail provided opportunities for players to easily acquire these Eidolons through free character selectors. Now, a leak from the prominent community leaker HomDGCat suggests that a similar event will return in Version 3.1, offering players a choice between four units: Qingque, Pela, Serval, and Asta.
All the characters in this selector debuted during the game's 1.0 cycle, with Asta being available to players early on for free. This leak aligns with earlier rumors that upcoming characters may predominantly be 5-stars, hinting that developer Amphoreus might not introduce new 4-star units soon. Since the Penacony update, Honkai: Star Rail has shifted towards releasing more 5-star characters, with nearly 40 already in the game and eight more expected with the Amphoreus update. This trend could mean that future 4-star character selectors may have limited new options.
While Pela and Asta have remained solid support characters since their introduction, Qingque and Serval have been overshadowed by newer DPS options. All these characters are also available for purchase in the in-game store. Despite this, the upcoming Version 3.0 is highly anticipated, as it will introduce the long-awaited characters The Herta and Aglaea. To help players prepare for future pulls, Honkai: Star Rail has recently released new redeem codes for free Stellar Jades and materials.
