Lenovo has recently put to rest rumors about a PC port of Halo 5: Guardians being in the works. The buzz started due to a promotional image for the Lenovo Legion Go S that suggested the game would soon be available on Steam. However, Lenovo clarified that this image was merely a mockup design and not a confirmation of any upcoming release.
With the release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC, Halo 5: Guardians stands out as the only mainline game in the Halo series yet to make its way to the platform. This is particularly noticeable for PC gamers eager to experience the complete Halo saga without an Xbox One. Interestingly, while a PC version of the Halo 5: Guardians Forge editor was released in 2016, the full game has never followed suit. Despite persistent rumors, no official announcements have been made.
The speculation reignited when the Lenovo Legion Go S mockup surfaced, hinting at a possible Steam release. However, Lenovo's senior community manager, Ben Green, quickly dispelled these rumors with a succinct "No lol" when asked if it was a leak for the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct event. As of now, the image remains on Lenovo's site, which suggests it wasn't intended as a leak. Green further stated that he had forwarded the issue to Lenovo's design team for review.
While the Lenovo clarification might be disappointing for those hoping for a Halo 5: Guardians PC port, it's not the end of the road. Microsoft's increased focus on PC gaming in recent years could eventually lead to the unification of all Halo titles on the platform. However, these are just speculations, and there is currently no solid evidence to suggest that Halo 5: Guardians will come to PC anytime soon.
The Halo franchise is currently navigating through an intriguing phase. Halo Studios, formerly known as 343 Industries, is actively updating Halo Infinite with fresh content, yet there's a palpable desire among fans for new developments. Looking ahead to 2025, rumors are circulating about a potential remake of Halo: Combat Evolved and the possibility of The Master Chief Collection making its way to PlayStation. If these rumors hold true, it would mark a significant shift in the franchise's direction.
