Godzilla Battles Spider-Man: Marvel and Toho Monsters Clash

Get ready for a colossal clash! Marvel Comics is unleashing a new series of one-shot crossover specials pitting Godzilla against some of its most iconic heroes. IGN exclusively reveals the third installment: Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1.

This exciting crossover follows Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1 and Godzilla vs. Hulk #1. This new adventure is a retro-styled story set after 1984's Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars. Witness Peter Parker, still grappling with the effects of the alien symbiote, facing his greatest challenge yet: the King of the Monsters!

Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 is penned by Joe Kelly (the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man relaunch), with art by Nick Bradshaw (known for his work on Wolverine and the X-Men). Bradshaw, Lee Garbett, and Greg Land contribute to the cover art.

Kelly shared his excitement, stating, "The moment I heard about an '80s-set Godzilla/Spidey crossover, I jumped at the chance! This book is pure fun, showcasing two legendary characters amidst the chaotic energy of that era. Nick Bradshaw perfectly captures the absurdity and gives Godzilla and Spidey (in his awesome black suit!) the respect they deserve. It's a love letter with an earth-shattering roar!"

This isn't Godzilla's first rodeo with Western superheroes; DC's Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong (with a sequel in the works) featured the MonsterVerse versions. Marvel's series, however, focuses on the classic Toho Godzilla.

This announcement follows the unveiling of IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, a charity anthology benefiting wildfire relief efforts.
