In a recent installment of Nintendo's Creator's Voice series, Naoki Hamaguchi, the director behind the Final Fantasy Remake series, shared exciting news about the future of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. This expanded version of the 2020 PS4 title, Final Fantasy VII Remake, which serves as the first chapter in the ambitious remake trilogy of the iconic 1997 PS1 RPG, is set to make its way to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, currently available on PS5 and PC, brings enhanced graphics and lighting improvements over the original PS4 release. It also includes the Intermission DLC, introducing players to the energetic ninja Yuffie as she explores Midgar.

Hamaguchi highlighted the Switch 2's enhanced capabilities, stating, "With the power of the Switch 2, we can now recreate Midgar with full specs." This upgrade allows for a seamless transition of the game to Nintendo's new handheld platform. He further emphasized the convenience of playing on the go, noting, "Being able to play this game on the Switch 2 in handheld mode means you can play it on the train while commuting to work." The portability not only enhances the gaming experience but also facilitates sharing and discussing the game with others.

The Switch 2 version will incorporate GameChat, allowing players to communicate with friends during gameplay and share their screens in real time. Hamaguchi expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "I’m very excited to see this game playable on a portable system," and expressed optimism about fostering a strong partnership between Nintendo and the Final Fantasy brand.

While only Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has been officially announced for the Switch 2, Hamaguchi hinted at the possibility of future releases, including Rebirth and the final entry in the trilogy, on the new platform. He concluded, "I hope players are looking forward to the Final Fantasy VII Remake series on Switch 2."

The Final Fantasy series, which initially launched on Nintendo consoles, transitioned to the PlayStation 1 with the release of Final Fantasy VII in 1997, marking the franchise's first foray into 3D gaming. Now, with the remake, fans will once again have the opportunity to experience this beloved title on Nintendo hardware.
