As the release date for Days Gone Remastered approaches, Sony's Bend Studio has unveiled a suite of new accessibility features designed to enhance the gaming experience for all players. Among these, the ability to adjust Game Speed stands out as a significant addition. In a detailed post on the PlayStation Blog, Kevin McAllister, the Creative & Product Lead at Bend Studio, explained how players can now tweak gameplay speed from 100% down to 75%, 50%, and even 25%. This feature is particularly aimed at helping players who may find themselves overwhelmed during intense gameplay moments, such as battling the notorious hordes of Freakers. McAllister emphasized that with the introduction of the new Horde Assault mode in the remaster, making these combat sequences more accessible was a priority.

In addition to the Game Speed adjustment, Days Gone Remastered will offer a variety of other accessibility enhancements. These include customizable subtitle colors, a High Contrast Mode that can be tailored to individual preferences, UI Narration for those who benefit from audio cues, and Collectible Audio Cues to help locate in-game items. Furthermore, the auto-complete QTE (Quick Time Event) option, which was previously limited to Easy difficulty, will now be available across all difficulty levels, from Easy to Survival II.

Bend Studio has also announced that many of these accessibility features will be rolled out to the PC version of Days Gone. However, some options, such as feedback and control customization, will require the use of a compatible controller.

Days Gone Remastered was officially announced in February, promising not only these accessibility improvements but also an enhanced photo mode, permadeath, and speedrun options. Set to launch on April 25, 2025, this remaster of the 2019 post-apocalyptic zombie action-adventure game will be available for PS5. Players who already own the PS4 version can upgrade to the remastered edition for just $10, ensuring that more gamers can experience the enhanced version of this beloved title.
