When you're thrown into your world and onto your plot of land, you might think the goal is to protect that space. However, the true aim of *Build Defense* is to survive, or simply put, not to die. The game will challenge you with various dangers, and your task is to overcome them. While building a defensive structure on your plot is ideal, you can also evade threats by running around the world until they pass. Each time you survive, you earn a "Win" and some in-game currency. Accumulating Wins is the key to advancing in the game. Keep an eye on the screen messages and focus on staying alive.

Don't be discouraged if you die; it's a common occurrence in *Build Defense*. The consequences are minimal: you'll respawn immediately, lose your items, and fail the current enemy wave, but these setbacks are manageable. You can repurchase your lost items, and your structures remain intact. Another wave arrives every two minutes, giving you plenty of chances to try again. Essentially, you only lose a bit of time, which isn't a significant loss at all.
Build high, not low

Initially, building a wall around your plot might seem like a good defense strategy, but it's not very effective. Monsters can exploit entry and exit points. A more successful approach is to construct a tall staircase leading to a high platform. When night falls, ascend to safety. Most monsters will fall while climbing the steep stairs, and those that reach the top can be met with a barrage of turrets. This setup is nearly foolproof and will help you survive most nights.

The island offers much more than just your plot. You can visit neighbors, trade ores, and undertake quests. While many quests require a certain number of Wins to start, some, like the Gingerbread's House quest, are available immediately. Completing these quests can unlock new building parts, enhancing your construction capabilities.
The "Shop" isn't just for premium items

As you progress, don't forget to check out the Shop. Most items can be purchased with in-game currency, but you'll need to accumulate some Wins first.
