Nerscylla, the giant spider from *Monster Hunter Wilds*, is a creature that strikes fear into the hearts of many, especially those who have a particular aversion to spiders. Not only is it a terrifying adversary, but it's also a prime source for high-affinity weapons, making it a must-hunt for any serious player. If you've watched the *Monster Hunter* film, you might have already had a few nightmares about this beast. Let's dive into how to conquer this formidable foe.
Nerscylla is particularly susceptible to fire and thunder attacks, especially when its mantle is broken. However, it resists sleep and is immune to sonic bombs. This agile spider uses its web to immobilize you, poison you with its bite, and even put you to sleep with its rear stinger. It's a master of status effect damage, so come prepared with antidotes for sleep and poison to avoid being overwhelmed.
When facing Nerscylla, be wary of its two main types of attacks: bite and web attacks. The bite attack involves the spider rearing back, revealing two orange fangs, and then charging forward to slam them shut. This not only poisons you but also inflicts significant damage. To evade this, position yourself behind Nerscylla or simply run away swiftly.
The web attacks are equally dangerous. Nerscylla can shoot webs directly at you or in a spread pattern. Being hit by these webs will immobilize you, but you can dodge them to stay free. Additionally, watch out for its rapid horizontal charge and its Spider-Man-like swinging attack. Both can be avoided by dodging to the side.
Capturing Nerscylla requires careful preparation. Equip yourself with a Pitfall Trap, a Shock Trap, and Tranq Bombs. While you technically only need one trap and two Tranq Bombs, it's wise to bring extras due to the unpredictable nature of *Monster Hunter Wilds*.
Engage Nerscylla in combat and weaken it until it's on the brink of defeat. You'll know it's ready to be captured when it starts limping, your NPC teammates comment on its weakened state, or a small skull appears next to its icon on the mini-map. Once it's sufficiently weakened, set a trap, lure Nerscylla into it, and then use two Tranq Bombs to successfully capture this fearsome spider.
