Nintendo's Popular Mobile Game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, is Closing its Doors
The news is out: Nintendo is ending online services for its popular mobile game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. The announcement has taken many players by surprise, leaving them wondering what the future holds for their cozy campsites.
The End of an Era: November 28th, 2024
Mark your calendars! November 28th, 2024, marks the official end of online services for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. This means no more Leaf Tickets, no more Pocket Camp Club memberships (auto-renewals cease October 28th, with no refunds for existing memberships after that date, though a commemorative badge will be awarded). Your last chance to acquire Leaf Tickets is November 26th. The final online farewell will occur at 7:00 AM PST on November 28th.
A Silver Lining: An Offline Version is Coming!
While the online community will be dissolving, Nintendo has revealed plans for a paid offline version of the game. While features like the Market Box, gifting, and visiting friends' campsites will be absent, the core gameplay experience will remain. Players will retain their saved progress and can continue playing without an internet connection. Expect more details on this paid offline version around October 2024.
A Trend of Mobile Game Closures?
This closure follows a pattern of Nintendo discontinuing its mobile games. Dr. Mario World and Dragalia Lost have already met similar fates, and Mario Kart Tour is currently in maintenance mode. Therefore, the shutdown of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, while unexpected for some, is not entirely surprising.
If you wish to enjoy the game's remaining days, download Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp from the Google Play Store. Stay tuned for our upcoming article on Netflix's Monument Valley 3.
