Earlier this year, Dell revitalized the iconic Alienware Area-51 lineup of prebuilt gaming PCs. Initially, the only graphics card option available was the RTX 5080. However, Dell has now expanded the options, allowing you to configure your PC with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, which stands as the most powerful graphics card currently on the market. Excitingly, one of the two preconfigured systems is currently available at a discounted price.
New Release### Alienware Area-51 Intel Core Ultra 9 285K RTX 5090 Gaming PC (32GB/2TB)
12$5,499.99 save 9%$4,999.99 at AlienwareThis Alienware Area-51 gaming PC configuration is now available for $4,999.99, thanks to a $500 instant discount. It features an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a 2TB SSD for storage. The Core Ultra 9 285K is Intel's latest flagship CPU, delivering exceptional performance for both workstations and gaming. Although it doesn't offer the significant performance boost we hoped for from the i9-14900K, it remains Intel's top all-around CPU. The system is cooled by a massive 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler and powered by a robust 1,500W Platinum power supply.
Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025, featuring a chassis design that echoes the 2024 R16 system but with aesthetic and cooling enhancements and updated components. The I/O panel is now located at the top of the case rather than the front, and the tempered glass window spans the entire side panel for a sleek look. Air intakes are positioned at the bottom and front of the case to support a positive airflow design, reducing dust accumulation inside. The internal components have been upgraded with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest generation of CPUs and GPUs.
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has emerged as the most powerful consumer GPU available. While Nvidia has focused on software updates, AI enhancements, and DLSS 4 technology to boost gameplay performance, the RTX 5090 still offers a significant 25%-30% increase in raster performance compared to the RTX 4090. Additionally, it comes equipped with more (32GB vs 24GB) and faster (GDDR7 vs GDDR6) VRAM. Due to high demand, finding the RTX 5090 at its retail price is challenging, with eBay listings ranging from $3,500 to $4,000.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas**
"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially surpassed the RTX 4090 in performance, albeit with a less dramatic improvement than in previous generations. In terms of traditional, non-AI gaming performance, the RTX 5090 offers one of the smallest generational uplifts we've seen recently. However, when games utilize DLSS 4, the performance gains are substantial – though you must accept that 75% of the frames are generated by AI."
