Where to Upgrade Weapons and Armor in Avowed

In Avowed, you'll need a Workbench (pictured above) to upgrade your weapons and armor. Each upgrade requires specific materials, varying based on the weapon or armor type and its Quality. Many materials are readily available in the world or craftable. However, upgrading between Qualities demands increasingly rare Adra.

Workbenches are conveniently located at Party Camps. Establish a Party Camp at any Adra Waystone. Interact with the Waystone and select the option to set up camp. These camps are marked on your map with a tent icon, allowing for easy fast travel.

Understanding Weapon and Armor Leveling in Avowed

Weapon and armor power in Avowed is determined primarily by Quality. Quality is represented by a numerical value, color rarity, and descriptive adjective. The numerical value and color rarity correspond to enemy levels in the Living Lands. Lower Quality gear will be significantly less effective against higher-level enemies.

Facing enemies exceeding your gear's Quality will result in reduced damage output and decreased protection. Conversely, you'll gain significant advantages against enemies of equal or lower Quality. Therefore, upgrading your gear to match enemy levels is essential for maintaining combat effectiveness. Here's the Quality breakdown:

• Common Quality – Green, Level I
• Fine Quality – Blue, Level II
• Exceptional – Purple, Level III
• Superb – Red, Level IV
• Legendary – Gold, Level V

Within each Quality level, you can further upgrade your weapons and armor three times (+0 through +3). While less impactful than increasing Quality, these upgrades still boost stats. Note that all three + levels must be completed before upgrading to the next Quality.

Choosing What to Upgrade in Avowed

Beyond Quality and its sub-levels, Avowed divides weapons and armor into standard and Unique categories. Standard gear is commonly found as loot or purchased from merchants. Unique gear, however, are named special items. These are often rewards from quests or dropped by bosses. Some merchants might also stock a few Unique items.

Unique weapons and armor can reach Legendary Quality, unlike standard gear which maxes out at Superb. Unique items also possess unique bonuses and perks. Therefore, prioritize upgrading Unique weapons and armor, reserving your resources for these superior items. Use standard gear as temporary replacements and sell or dismantle them for resources to upgrade your Unique equipment.
