We finally had the chance to hear Troy Baker's latest work in a new trailer at Summer Game Fest. The celebrated voice actor is stepping into the shoes—or paws—of Jack Pepper, the crime-solving mouse detective at the heart of MOUSE: P.I. for Hire.
In MOUSE, Baker portrays Jack Pepper, a war hero who has turned to a quieter life as a private eye. His routine is interrupted when a classic femme fatale shows up at his office with a seemingly simple case. However, Jack's investigation soon spirals into a web of murder and city-wide corruption, taking him deep into the underbelly of Mouseburg.
MOUSE is a visually striking 3D first-person shooter with a distinct, rubber-hose cartoon aesthetic reminiscent of classics like Cuphead. Its artistic direction is a clear homage to the moody, shadow-drenched world of 1930s film noir.
Fans will recognize Troy Baker’s voice from iconic roles such as Joel in The Last of Us, Booker DeWitt in BioShock Infinite, Sam Drake in Uncharted 4, and Higgs Monaghan in Death Stranding. He is also set to reprise his role in the upcoming Death Stranding 2.
MOUSE: P.I. for Hire is slated for a 2024 release on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC, and is currently in development by Fumi Games.
