IDW Publishing recently relaunched its flagship Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic series, but a major finale is already approaching. This April, IDW will release the fifth and concluding issue of TMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution, where a new generation of Turtles makes their final stand in a dystopian future New York.

TMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution #5 is written by Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz, with artwork by Ben Bishop, Isaac Escorza, and Esau Escorza.

Here is the official description from IDW for issue #5:

The second chapter of the legendary Last Ronin saga reaches its fiery, climactic end! The streets of New York have erupted into all-out war, and no one is safe. Casey, April, Odyn, Yi, Moja, and Uno are all caught in the crossfire. Will everyone survive? Their fate rests in the hands of legendary writers Kevin Eastman & Tom Waltz as this chapter of The Last Ronin draws to a close!

"One of our goals was to genuinely update the characters. We have two male and two female Turtle characters, and Tom and I aimed to capture how teenagers might think, speak, and act," Eastman told IGN in 2024. "There's a diverse mix of personalities, similar to the original Turtles. We wanted them to always love their family but not always like each other. So they might argue, bicker, or disagree, but when they need to unite as a team, it's the heart and soul of the family that binds them together. That foundation will always be central to anything we do with the Turtles."
