Stardew Valley: Prismatic Shard Locations & Uses

The Prismatic Shard, a shimmering rainbow gemstone, is one of *Stardew Valley*'s most coveted items. Its rarity, however, can be frustrating. This guide will show you how to find these valuable gems and put them to good use. This guide has been updated for version 1.6.

Prismatic Shard Locations

While finding a Prismatic Shard requires some luck, knowing where to look increases your chances:

• Mines (Bottom Levels): Monsters have a 0.05% chance to drop one.
• Fish Ponds (Rainbow Trout): A 0.09% chance exists within the chum bucket of a pond with at least 9 Rainbow Trout.
• Skull Cavern (Serpents, Mummies, Golems): Serpents and Mummies have a 0.1% drop rate, while Wilderness and Iridium Golems (Combat Level 10+) also offer this chance.
• Omni Geodes/Mystery Boxes: A 0.4% chance exists within these containers.
• Golden Mystery Boxes: These offer a higher 0.79% chance.
• Iridium Nodes: Skull Cavern, Volcano Dungeon, and the Quarry offer a 3.5% chance from Iridium Nodes.
• Treasure Chests (Skull Cavern): Approximately a 3.8% chance per chest.
• Mystic Nodes: These dark blue nodes (Skull Cavern, Quarry, Mines levels 100+) have a 25% chance to yield a Prismatic Shard.
• Meteorites: A 25% chance exists when a meteorite lands on your farm.
• Volcano Dungeon (First Completion): A chest at the end contains one.
• Desert Festival (Emily's Stall): Emily occasionally sells one for 500 Calico Eggs.

Prismatic Shards are incredibly versatile:

Crafting & Bundles

• Missing Bundle: One is needed for this bundle (post-Community Center/JojaMart).
• Wedding Ring (Multiplayer): Craft a wedding ring with 5 Iridium Bars and a Prismatic Shard (recipe from the Traveling Cart).

Gifting

Most villagers love receiving a Prismatic Shard (except Haley). This makes them valuable for boosting relationships.

Weapons

• Galaxy Sword: Transform a Prismatic Shard into this powerful weapon at the Calico Desert obelisks.
• Volcano Forge Enchantments: Use them with Cinder Shards to enhance tools and weapons on Ginger Island.

Trades

• Calico Desert Trader: Exchange three Prismatic Shards for a Magic Rock Candy (Thursdays).
• Witch's Hut (Dark Shrine): A sinister trade—transforms your children into doves (permanent).

Quests

• Mr. Qi's Four Precious Stones: Deliver four Prismatic Shards to Mr. Qi by the deadline.
