Sky: Children of the Light is celebrating its sixth anniversary, and thatgamecompany is marking the occasion with a special in-game event: a live awards ceremony held within the world of Sky itself. Prepare for an extraordinary celebration!
The ceremony, titled The Sky Creator Awards, is scheduled for August 15 at 6:00 PM PT. Players worldwide can join the festivities from Sky's cinema, a massive virtual space capable of hosting thousands of players simultaneously on a single server.
This is a first-of-its-kind experience for the Sky community—a unique, one-night-only live event inside the game dedicated to recognizing players and creators for their exceptional user-generated content.
Awards will be presented across ten distinct categories. The two primary honors are the Sky Community Award and the Content of the Year Award. Other categories include Crafts, Livestream, Cosplay, Storytelling, Gameplay, Illustration, Music, and Sky Scapes.
Winners will have the opportunity to appear on the virtual stage and address the live audience in the cinema. In the lead-up to the ceremony, the cinema will feature a continuous 24/7 stream showcasing behind-the-scenes content and messages from the developers.
Starting July 7, Aviary Village will be transformed into a vibrant social hub, complete with swimming areas, dance floors, and spaces for parade festivities. This kicks off the official start of the Sky: Children of the Light 6th Anniversary celebrations.
Leading up to August 15, players can enjoy a variety of activities, including a towering ascent challenge, mini-games, and trivia contests. The cinema will also host a special retrospective looking back at the major events and seasons that have defined Sky since its launch in 2019.
Additionally, beginning July 21, you can watch the premiere of "Sky: The Two Embers – Part 1," the first installment in a four-part animated series exploring the deeper lore of Sky's universe. Check out the awards ceremony trailer below.
