Hollow Knight: Silksong will be featured as a playable demo at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture. Here's what we know about the upcoming exhibition and what attendees can expect from the Silksong showcase.

As one of the most eagerly awaited games in recent memory, Hollow Knight: Silksong is finally offering fans a hands-on opportunity. A playable version of the game will be available at the National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI) in Australia. This new build is expected to differ significantly from the 2019 E3 demo, which was widely seen as a proof of concept.
ACMI will host a video game exhibition titled "Game Worlds" from September 18, 2025, to February 8, 2026. The event will highlight several major titles, including World of Warcraft, The Sims, and the locally developed Hollow Knight: Silksong. Each game will feature exclusive custom builds, original design materials, concept art, and iconic items from their development.
In an interview with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement about including Silksong. They noted, "Since its initial announcement in 2019, Hollow Knight: Silksong has been one of the most anticipated indie games globally. We are thrilled to showcase the design of this South Australian-made title as a centerpiece of Game Worlds this September."

Since its 2019 reveal, details about Silksong have been sparse, leaving fans to rely on rumors and speculation. The ACMI exhibition aims to address this information gap by providing deeper insights into the game.
The co-curators elaborated on the exhibition's focus, explaining, "Our display explores the intricate details of Silksong's development—from the hundreds of sprites that bring Hornet's movements and attacks to life, to the design logic behind its toughest boss battles. Of course, having the game playable on-site allows visitors to engage directly with its artistic and gameplay vision."

While the exhibition may hint at a potential launch timeframe, no official release date has been confirmed. Last month, Silksong was briefly showcased during the Switch 2 Direct, reaffirming a 2025 release window. Given that the ACMI exhibition runs until 2026, hopeful players are speculating that the game could launch around September 2025 or sometime during the exhibition's duration.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. For the latest updates on the game, be sure to read our related article below!
