According to Deadline, T.S. Nowlin (known for Maze Runner and Netflix's Project Adam) has joined to write the screenplay. Derek Kolstad's involvement, while previously confirmed, is currently unconfirmed.

Adding considerable weight to the project, Chad Stahelski (director of the John Wick franchise) and his production company, 87Eleven Entertainment, will serve as executive producers. Stahelski is also involved in another video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima.

Sifu, released in 2022, was an instant success, selling over a million copies in its first three weeks. The game follows a young kung fu student's quest for revenge after their master's murder. Using a mystical pendant that allows resurrection at the cost of accelerated aging, the protagonist faces numerous deadly encounters.
