Russell Crowe is poised to reunite with his Man of Steel co-star Henry Cavill for the upcoming Highlander remake.
Initial casting revelations from Collider confirm the 61-year-old Oscar winner has joined the project in a pivotal role under director Chad Stahelski (John Wick franchise). Crowe will portray Cavill's mentor, reimagining Sean Connery's iconic 1986 role (via Deadline).
Details about the modernized storyline and additional cast members remain undisclosed. However, Stahelski previously teased: "We're transporting the narrative from 16th-century Scotland to contemporary New York and Hong Kong. Expect spectacular action sequences... and an unconventional romantic subplot."

Cavill's starring role was announced in 2021. This marks the actors' first collaboration since 2013's Man of Steel, where Crowe played Jor-El to Cavill's Superman - a mentor-protege dynamic that will be revisited in the Highlander reboot.
The Amazon MGM/United Artists production currently lacks a release date. Screenwriter Michael Finch (John Wick: Chapter 4) penned the script.
