In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, the adventure extends beyond battling fearsome creatures. The game offers a vast, open world filled with exploration opportunities and a variety of quests to tackle. For those on the hunt for the elusive Rime Beetle, here's your comprehensive guide to finding and capturing this unique creature.
If you've forgotten Samin's hint, your journey to find the Rime Beetle leads you to the Iceshard Cliffs region. Unfortunately, locating this creature isn't as straightforward as setting a waypoint on your map and letting your Seikret guide you there.
Finding a Rime Beetle requires keen observation and a bit of luck. The good news is, once you know where to look, it becomes easier. This endemic creature rolls up balls of packed snow, making it stand out in snowy areas. In the Iceshard Cliffs, focus your search in Areas 2, 7, 8, 11, and 13. As you traverse these snow-covered zones, keep an eye out for the Rime Beetle. If you spot tracks in the snow, follow them—they might lead you straight to your target.

Capturing the Rime Beetle requires more than just picking it up. You'll need to use your Capture Net, which should already be in your equipment inventory. To equip it, hold L1/LB and scroll until you find the Capture Net, then press Square/X to select it. Aim using L2/LT, ensure the Rime Beetle is within your crosshairs, and wait for the crosshairs to turn orange before firing. Successfully capturing the Rime Beetle not only adds it to your collection but also fulfills Samin's request.
If you opt to collect the Rime Beetle manually or with the Hook Slinger, you'll obtain Frost Pods instead, which can be used to inflict ice damage on your targets in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.
