Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 10 16" 2560x1600 OLED Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX RTX 5080 Gaming Laptop with 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD

$3,599.99 at Lenovo

The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 10 is a beast with its Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU, which significantly outpaces the previous generation's Core Ultra 9 185H, known for its energy efficiency rather than raw power. Paired with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, this laptop is designed for those who demand the best in gaming performance. The inclusion of modern connectivity options such as WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, along with USB Type-C with up to 140W Power Delivery, Thunderbolt 4 with DisplayPort 2.1, and a USB Type-A port with USB 3.2 Gen 2, keeps this laptop up to date. The addition of an RJ45 ethernet port and a privacy shutter for the webcam adds to its appeal. The durable chassis, crafted from aluminum and magnesium, not only feels premium but ensures longevity.

We've Reviewed an RTX 5080 Equipped Gaming Laptop

Although we haven't yet had the chance to test the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 10, we've evaluated another gaming laptop with the RTX 5080 GPU. The RTX 5080 offers only a marginal improvement over the RTX 4080 in terms of raw rasterized performance. However, the real game-changer comes with support for DLSS 4.0 and multi-frame generation, significantly boosting performance in compatible games. The Gigabyte Aorus Master, which we reviewed, features the RTX 5080 with a 150W TGP rating and a 2560x1600 display—similar to the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i. This suggests that the Lenovo model should deliver comparable gaming performance.

Gigabyte Aorus Master 16" RTX 5080 Laptop Review by Chris Coke

"Nvidia's focus with the 50-series GPUs leans heavily on AI capabilities rather than just native rendering performance. While the RTX 5080's performance is disappointingly close to the RTX 4080, the difference becomes negligible when playing games that support multi-frame generation. The concept of 'fake frames' might be mocked, but when implemented well, it can dramatically enhance performance. The effectiveness varies by game; for instance, Alan Wake 2 may feel laggy at higher settings, whereas Cyberpunk 2077 does not. With emerging technologies like neural shaders on the horizon, investing in these GPUs is a bet on future advancements. However, this investment is contingent on Nvidia and game developers expanding support to more titles."
