Pokémon UNITE is expanding its roster once again, and this September, Empoleon will officially join the battle. But that's not all—other new Pokémon are following closely behind! Discover how water-type fighters and a legendary addition are set to reshape the battlefield meta.
The All-Rounder makes its debut on September 19. The initial reveal actually took place during the 2025 Pokémon World Championships, where Empoleon appeared against a purple background—the signature color for All-Rounder Pokémon in the game.
Classified as an Emperor Pokémon, Empoleon comes with abilities like Torrent. Its balanced stat spread from Scarlet and Violet translates well into UNITE, with Special Attack and Special Defense standing slightly above other attributes. Check out the official announcement video below.

Dhelmise and Vaporeon are also confirmed for the roster, though their specific release dates remain under wraps. While full details of their movesets haven't been shared, both are expected to introduce fresh strategic possibilities to matches.
Meanwhile, another major update will land before Empoleon's debut. Starting September 4, Groudon will appear as a new neutral boss in Theia Sky Ruins.
Defeating Groudon grants a significant attack boost and accelerates goal scoring. If you manage to knock out an opponent carrying Groudon's buff, that powerful effect immediately transfers to your Pokémon.
While you're preparing for these updates, don't forget that Pokémon UNITE's 4th anniversary celebration is still underway. Latias has joined as a playable character, and you can earn Latias' Unite license by completing anniversary missions. The event concludes on September 4, so be sure to download the game from the Google Play Store before time runs out.
