The PlayStation Portal has yet to receive an official price drop, but you can now save on a pre-owned model. Amazon Resale (formerly Amazon Warehouse) currently offers Used - Like New PS Portals for just $148 with free shipping. That's a 26% discount compared to the standard $199 retail price. While a Sony warranty may not apply, Amazon Resale provides the standard 30-day return policy for peace of mind. We anticipate these units will sell out quickly.

Update: The price has been reduced to $150.23, the lowest we've seen for a Used - Like New unit.

Sony's PS Portal transforms your PS5 into a handheld gaming system, resembling a DualSense controller with an 8-inch 1080p LCD display at its center. It streams games directly from your console at up to 60fps while retaining the full DualSense experience—haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touch-sensitive interface. The device supports gameplay beyond your home network, provided you have access to a fast, stable internet connection. Keep in mind that the Portal functions exclusively as a remote player for the PlayStation 5, requiring a console to operate.

You no longer need a PS5 to enjoy games on the Portal. Sony has expanded its functionality, enabling direct streaming from the PlayStation Now cloud service directly to the handheld. With new updates released in April, Portal users can connect either to their PS5 or to Sony's cloud servers—choosing the latter unlocks a library of over 120 games, such as Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Please note that access requires the highest tier of PlayStation Plus membership, but at $18 per month, it presents a more affordable option than purchasing a $500 console and new games at $70 each.

It's worth noting that the PlayStation Portal isn't the only device capable of streaming PS5 games over Wi-Fi. You can achieve similar functionality with the PS Remote Play app on mobile devices, including other handhelds like the Steam Deck. However, setup tends to be more complex, and you may sacrifice some DualSense-specific features.

PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy

"The PlayStation Portal defied my expectations, leaving me genuinely impressed. It delivers a far superior experience compared to pairing a phone with a clip-on controller, with performance that exceeded all predictions. I especially value the freedom to play my PS5 from anywhere with reliable WiFi—ideal when my family is using the TV to, somewhat ironically, play the Switch. Keep in mind that this is not a standalone device; it requires a PlayStation 5 to function. Currently, the main drawbacks are the inability to connect to WiFi networks that require browser login, and the lack of Bluetooth audio support. Still, it remains the leading solution for PlayStation Remote Play. With those two issues resolved, this would be an essential accessory for any PS5 owner who enjoys gaming on the go or sharing TV time at home."
