Pedro Pascal, acclaimed actor known for roles in The Last of Us, The Mandalorian, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, has publicly criticized Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling over her controversial remarks targeting the transgender community.
Pascal joined the conversation by responding to an April 17 video by writer-activist Tariq Raouf, which condemned Rowling's endorsement of a UK Supreme Court ruling that legally defines "woman" exclusively as "biological female." This interpretation effectively removes transgender women from protections under Britain's Equality Act.
Following the verdict, Rowling tweeted a victorious photo of herself smoking a cigar by the shore with the caption "I love it when a plan comes together" - referencing her financial support for For Scotland Women, the group behind the lawsuit.

Raouf's video described Rowling's behavior as "straight-up Voldemort villainy," calling for boycotts of Harry Potter-related content. Pascal responded emphatically: "Absolutely vile behavior. Pathetic excuse for humanity."
This isn't Pascal's first stand for trans rights. He previously condemned anti-trans bigotry by sharing: "Nothing reveals cruelty more clearly than persecuting vulnerable communities simply fighting for existence," accompanying a photo stating "Trans people have always existed." At the Thunderbolts London premiere, he wore a "Protect the dolls" tee - a coded reference to trans women in LGBTQIA+ communities.
The actor's support stems from personal connection - his sister Lux Pascal came out as transgender in 2021. Pascal immediately embraced her with a heartfelt Spanish message: "Mi hermana, mi corazón, nuestra Lux" ("My sister, my heart, our Lux").
