Overwatch 2 Reveals New China-Exclusive Events

Overwatch 2's triumphant return to China on February 19th brings a wealth of rewards and exciting events for players. This relaunch includes opportunities to earn Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1-9, participate in popular in-game events, and experience the thrill of newly released heroes.

A technical test in early January provided a sneak peek of the returning content, including "Overwatch: Classic" and six heroes previously unavailable to Chinese players. Following the test, Game Director Aaron Keller announced a multi-week celebration on Xiaohongshu (RedNote), detailing the return of beloved events and rewards missed during the game's absence. Players will receive Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 pre-launch, with Seasons 3-9 rewards obtainable through post-launch in-game events.

Season 15: A Chinese Mythology Infusion?

Intriguingly, Keller hinted at Season 15 featuring skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology. The specifics remain shrouded in mystery: are these existing or entirely new skins? Will they be China-exclusive, or part of a broader thematic expansion for Season 15, mirroring the Norse mythology theme of Season 14? The answers will be revealed soon, with the launch of Season 15 on February 18th, just a day before the official China relaunch. A full reveal is anticipated in early February.

In the meantime, players globally can enjoy the "Min 1, Max 3" 6v6 test (January 21st - February 4th), featuring the classic 2-2-2 team composition. The Lunar New Year and Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events are also planned before Season 15. While Chinese players may miss these events, they have their own special celebrations to anticipate.
