Nintendo has officially confirmed that players will be able to utilize the innovative Switch 2 Joy-Con mouse controls directly on the Home screen, adding a new dimension to the user interface. Since the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, the gaming community has been buzzing with speculation about the functionalities of the new Joy-Con. Last month, the excitement peaked when we received official confirmation of the Joy-Con's "mouse mode" feature. This mode allows players to glide the controllers across surfaces and utilize the analog sticks for left-click and right-click actions, mimicking the functionality of a traditional mouse. Moreover, players have the option to use two Joy-Con simultaneously in mouse mode, one in each hand, or pair one in standard mode with the other in mouse mode for versatile gameplay.

The latest update, showcased through the Nintendo Today app and highlighted on X/Twitter, reveals that the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls extend to navigating the Home menu on the Switch 2. As demonstrated, "placing the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down activates a cursor on the screen," Nintendo explained. "To bring up the cursor, simply set the Joy-Con 2 on a flat surface like a table and move it as instructed."

Nintendo further elaborated that "while using mouse controls, tilting the control stick enables scrolling through menus," adding that these controls can be used not only on the Home menu but also within compatible software. Transitioning back to using the thumbstick is as simple as repositioning the Joy-Con 2 horizontally.

Although the full list of games supporting mouse controls remains undisclosed, Nintendo has demonstrated the feature's compatibility with the Switch 2 versions of Mario Party Jamboree and Metroid Prime 4, as well as the unique wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.
