Marvel Snap: Top Agamotto Decks Revealed

Journey back in time with Marvel Snap's Prehistoric Avengers season! The season's crown jewel, and likely its most powerful card, is Agamotto, an ancient sorcerer with ties to Doctor Strange. Let's explore the best Agamotto decks currently available.

How Agamotto Works in Marvel Snap

Agamotto is a 5-cost, 10-power card with the ability: "Game Start: Shuffle 4 Ancient Arcana into your deck." These Arcana are:

  • Temporal Manipulation (1-cost): On Reveal: Give Agamotto +3 Power. Put him into your hand if he’s not in play. (Banish this.)
  • Wombs of Watoomb (2-cost): On Reveal: Afflict an enemy card here with -5 Power and move it right. (Banish this.)
  • Bolts of Balthakk (3-cost): On Reveal: Next turn, you get +4 Energy. (Banish this.)
  • Images of Ikonn (4-cost): On Reveal: Transform your other cards here into copies of the highest-Power one. (Banish this.)

Notice the Arcana lack power cost and feature the "Banish" keyword. This classifies them as Skill cards, not character cards. They're played, then banished, meaning they don't go to the discard or destroy piles and can't be replayed. This means they combo with Wong but not Odin; King Etri won't pull Agamotto, and Ravonna Renslayer or Mister Negative won't affect them. Agamotto's diverse Arcana effects make him difficult to categorize into a single archetype.

Best Early Agamotto Decks in Marvel Snap

While Agamotto will likely define his own archetype eventually, he currently fits well into two deck types: Wiccan Control and Push Scream.

Wiccan Control

This deck (Quicksilver, Hydra Bob, Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, Iron Patriot, Sam Wilson, Captain America, Cassandra Nova, Rocket & Groot, Copycat, Galactus, Wiccan, Agamotto, Alioth) is expensive, featuring many Series 5 cards. Quicksilver is the only non-Series 5 card. However, many cards are interchangeable with similar-cost alternatives. Bolts of Balthakk provides late-game energy even if Wiccan isn't drawn early. The Arcana synergize well: Temporal Manipulation retrieves Agamotto, Wombs of Watoomb disrupts, and Images of Ikonn creates powerful copies, potentially multiplying Cassandra Nova's effect or Galactus' power. Cassandra Nova's increased relevance is due to Eson's release, which complements Arishem decks.

Scream Push

This deck (Hydra Bob, Scream, Iron Patriot, Kraven, Sam Wilson, Captain America, Spider-Man, Rocket & Groot, Miles Morales, Stegron, Cannonball, Agamotto) also features several Series 5 cards (Hydra Bob, Scream, Iron Patriot, Sam Wilson, Rocket & Groot, Cannonball). Hydra Bob can be replaced by Nightcrawler, and Iron Patriot by Jeff. While only Wombs of Watoomb directly synergizes, the other Arcana add versatility. Temporal Manipulation boosts Agamotto's late-game impact, while Images of Ikonn can create multiple Screams, Spider-Mans, or Cannonballs. Agamotto adds unpredictability and counters Luke Cage/Shadow King decks.

Should You Buy the Prehistoric Avengers Season Pass?

Agamotto, if un-nerfed, rivals Thanos or Arishem in power. He'll be a meta-shifting card, creating powerful synergies and potentially frustrating opponents. His future archetype potential makes the $9.99 USD Season Pass a worthwhile investment if you have the budget.
