Are you a fan of Marvel Rivals? Get ready for an exciting update! The developers at NetEase have just announced a thrilling plan to introduce new heroes every month starting from Season 3. This strategic shift aims to keep the game as fresh and engaging as it was at launch. Let's dive into the details of these upcoming changes and what they mean for you.
In a bid to maintain the game's vibrancy, NetEase has decided to release new heroes monthly rather than sticking to their initial plan of two heroes per season. This was revealed by Marvel Rivals' Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong during the Marvel Rivals’ Dev Vision Vol. 05 on April 4. Alongside this, they announced adjustments to the season structure.
Starting from Season 3, each season will be shortened from three months to two, allowing for a new hero to be introduced each month. Guangguang elaborated, "After extensive internal discussions and thorough evaluation, we’ve decided that starting from Season 3, the seasons will shift to a two-month format, with a new hero debuting each month."
The pressure to keep the game exciting has been evident from social media discussions, as Guangguang pointed out. They are also considering adding new modes to further enhance the game's appeal, which could be implemented in the future. With these changes, players could see up to 12 new heroes added to the game each year.
Balancing these new additions will be a challenge, but Guangguang assured fans in a PC Gamer interview on March 14 that the team is prepared. He highlighted the use of key metric data across all game modes, including pick rates, win rates, and stats, as crucial for their balancing efforts.
Season 2 introduces the Hellfire Gala, where Marvel Heroes are invited by the new hero Emma Frost to explore the Mutant haven of the Living Island Krakoa. Emma Frost, an X-Men villain with telepathic powers and the ability to transform objects into diamonds, will join the game as a Vanguard.
The Hellfire Gala promises a lavish celebration, with new skins for characters like Luna Snow, Magneto, Cloak and Dagger, and Black Panther, all dressed in elegant attire. The event draws inspiration from Marvel’s Hellfire Club, a prestigious group known for its influence over world events.
Following Emma Frost, Season 2.5 will introduce Ultron, a formidable Marvel villain. The trailer shows Ultron robots crashing the Hellfire Gala, signaling the beginning of the Age of Ultron. Details about Ultron's role in the game are yet to be revealed.
Exciting news for skin collectors! Marvel Rivals announced on Twitter (X) on April 4 that new skins for Thor and Hawkeye are now available. Thor's Lord of Asgard skin reflects his revival by Odin in the comics, while Hawkeye's Ronin skin captures his vigilante samurai persona.
The Thor Rune King bundle includes the Rune King costume, spray, nameplate, The Omniscient MVP, and Well of Mimir emote. Meanwhile, the Hawkeye Ronin bundle features the Ronin skin, spray, nameplate, Deadly Rain MVP, and Hone to Perfection emote.
These new and upcoming changes underscore NetEase’s dedication to supporting Marvel Rivals for 10 years and beyond. Available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Marvel Rivals continues to evolve, offering fans an ever-changing and dynamic gaming experience.
