Star Wars icon Mark Hamill faced an awkward wardrobe malfunction at the 2025 BAFTA Awards, revealing that fellow Hollywood star Demi Moore offered a supportive thumbs up from the audience during the incident.

On The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Hamill called the trouser mishap "every actor's worst nightmare."

He shared that his pants, which began sliding down while presenting the Best Film award to Conclave, had been fine before the event.

"I tested those pants twice. Once at my California home, my stylist fitted them and asked, 'How do they feel?' I said, 'They're fine, a bit tight, but manageable. Maybe loosen them slightly,'" he recounted while promoting Mike Flanagan’s new film, The Life of Chuck.

Things took a turn in London. "With the car waiting outside, 20 minutes before departure, I put on the pants," Hamill continued. "They’d been let out by four or five inches! Thankfully, our dresser Mary had a safety pin and secured them at the back, so I thought I was set."

But as actors often learn, mishaps happen. "They announced my name, and as I walked to the podium, I felt the pin give way," he told Colbert. "With every step, the pants slipped further—by the time I reached the podium, they were at my knees, no exaggeration!"

In that moment, Hamill searched the crowd for his wife but spotted Moore instead. He mouthed, "Did you see my pants fall?" Moore responded with a cheerful thumbs up and a wide grin.

Channeling his inner Jedi, Hamill stayed composed. "I focused like it was hypnosis, willing the audience to believe, 'You didn’t see my pants fall—it’s all in your mind,'" he shared on the late-night show. "I stuck to the teleprompter, avoiding any mention of it to keep attention off the incident."

Hamill later learned from the BAFTA director that the podium hid the mishap from the front audience, though side-seated guests saw his pants at his knees. In a lighthearted moment, he reassured Colbert’s audience, “Rest assured, my pants are firmly in place tonight.”

For those hoping to see Hamill reprise Luke Skywalker as a Force ghost, he’s made it clear he’s done with the iconic sci-fi saga. The actor believes Star Wars should now focus on new characters and stories, leaving legacy roles behind.
