Nintendo has rolled out a new update for Mario Kart World, addressing various in-game issues such as unexpected crashes.
Version 1.1.1 is now available for download and will install automatically the next time Nintendo Switch 2 owners launch the game. This marks the first update since the day-one patch released two weeks ago, which enabled online multiplayer on Nintendo's latest console.
Over the past two weeks, players have uncovered numerous Mario Kart World secrets, from accessing Rainbow Road and Mirror Mode to spotting several Nintendo Easter eggs. However, some players encountered technical problems—many of which are resolved in this latest patch.
Version 1.1.1 fixes a problem where Mario Kart World could crash while watching replays or after completing an Online Play race.
It also addresses an issue on the DK Spaceport track where players could clip through a wall just before the finish line. The complete patch notes are listed below.

Mario Kart World has clearly been the standout title in the Switch 2's launch lineup, selling more rapidly in Japan than The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild did during the original Switch's launch. The game's breakout character, Cow, has been especially popular among fans—even earning praise from a Japanese farmer who commended the character's convincingly "mucky" rear.
So what’s next for Mario Kart World? Nintendo has not revealed its plans yet. But as players continue to climb the online ranks and discover more P-Switches in the Free Roam world, the community is eager to see how the game could expand with new costumes, missions, or even entirely new tracks and areas.
"While Mario Kart World may not fully prove that an open-world approach was the refresh the series needed, its excellent multiplayer racing, incredible polish, and the exhilarating new Knockout Tour mode more than uphold its celebrated legacy," IGN noted in our Mario Kart World review.
