Larian Reveals Exciting New Subclasses for Baldur

While many fans believed Patch 7 would mark the end of major updates for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios has thrilled the community by confirming a substantial new update slated for 2025. This forthcoming patch is set to introduce exciting features such as crossplay support and a photo mode, alongside a diverse range of 12 new subclasses that promise to enrich the gameplay with unique mechanics.

Here's a closer look at four of these intriguing new subclasses:

Oath of the Crown Paladin

The Oath of the Crown Paladin is a steadfast guardian of justice and order, prioritizing the welfare of society above all else. This subclass is equipped with the Divine Devotion ability, which not only absorbs damage directed at allies but also heals them, making it a formidable support class on the battlefield.

Arcane Archer

Combining martial skill with arcane magic, the Arcane Archer wields enchanted arrows that can inflict a variety of debilitating effects on enemies. These arrows can blind, weaken, or even banish foes to the Feywild for a turn. Should an arrow miss its mark, the Arcane Archer has the unique ability to redirect its flight to hit another target, ensuring no shot is wasted.

Drunken Master Monk

The Drunken Master Monk brings a unique twist to combat by integrating alcohol into their fighting techniques. Their signature move intoxicates enemies, leaving them disoriented and vulnerable. This not only enhances the monk's own abilities but also sets up the use of Instant Sobriety, a move that deals devastating physical and mental damage to affected targets.

Swarmkeeper Ranger

The Swarmkeeper Ranger forms powerful alliances with swarms of creatures, harnessing nature's might to bolster their combat prowess. These swarms not only protect the ranger from harm but also facilitate teleportation. In battle, the ranger can deploy three distinct types of swarms: electric jellyfish clusters, blinding moth clouds, and stinging bee legions. The latter can knock back enemies failing a strength check by a significant 4.5 meters, adding a strategic layer to encounters.

These new subclasses are poised to offer players fresh and exciting ways to engage with the world of Baldur's Gate 3, further deepening the already rich gameplay experience.
