While direct combat isn't always the best approach in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the game offers a robust stealth system allowing players to outwit their foes. A key element of this system is the ability to throw rocks, providing a useful distraction or even a means of initiating an encounter on your terms. Here's how to master this sneaky skill.

How to Throw Rocks in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

It's crucial to remember that rock-throwing is exclusively a stealth mechanic. Initiate stealth mode by clicking the right stick on a controller or pressing 'C' on PC. Once in stealth, hold the following button to prepare your throw:

  • PlayStation: R1
  • Xbox: RB
  • PC: G

With the button held, Henry will position himself, pebble in hand. A crosshair will appear, indicating your throw's trajectory. Release the button to launch the rock.

Tips and Tricks for Throwing Rocks

The beauty of rock-throwing lies in its unlimited supply. You won't need to scavenge for pebbles after each throw. However, remember that Henry throws small pebbles, resulting in a limited noise radius. Aim for close targets for maximum stealth. Hitting objects like cups or plates, however, will create a more noticeable sound.

Successful rock throws will often draw enemies to investigate, giving you the opportunity to either dispatch them silently or simply avoid confrontation. Be warned, however, directly hitting an enemy with a rock will immediately alert them to your presence.

Beyond distracting enemies, rocks can also be used to knock down bird nests scattered throughout the game world. These nests often contain valuable items such as eggs (providing a small nutritional boost) or even rare dice badges.

That's all you need to know about mastering the art of rock-throwing in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. For more helpful guides and tips on your adventures, check out The Escapist for articles on topics like acquiring the best horse or handling stolen goods.
