Jacksepticeye's Unannounced Soma Animated Show Project Collapses Unexpectedly

In a recent video titled 'A Bad Month,' popular YouTuber Jacksepticeye, whose real name is Seán William McLoughlin, shared his disappointment over the cancellation of a highly anticipated project—a Soma animated show. The survival horror science fiction game, developed by Frictional Games and released in 2015, holds a special place in Jacksepticeye's heart, often being cited as one of his top favorite video games.

Jacksepticeye, who had extensively streamed Soma upon its release, expressed his enthusiasm for turning the game into an animated series. He revealed that he had been collaborating with the developers for a year and was on the brink of entering full production. However, the project abruptly fell apart when an unnamed party decided to take the project in a "different direction," leaving Jacksepticeye deeply upset and reluctant to share specifics about the fallout.

The cancellation has significantly impacted Jacksepticeye's plans for 2025, disrupting his content creation schedule and leaving him uncertain about his next steps. He had anticipated dedicating much of his time to the project, expecting it to be a significant creative endeavor to share with his audience. The sudden halt has left him frustrated and questioning his priorities moving forward.

Following Soma, Frictional Games released two more titles in the Amnesia series: Amnesia: Rebirth in 2020 and Amnesia: The Bunker in 2023. In a statement after the release of Amnesia: The Bunker, Frictional's creative director Thomas Grip mentioned the studio's intention to explore themes beyond horror, focusing on other emotional qualities to enhance the immersive experience for players.
