In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Idris Elba shared his thoughts on the possibility of a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 movie. The actor, who will be reprising his role as Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 alongside Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog, expressed his excitement about the idea. Elba, who played the seasoned FIA sleeper agent Solomon Reed in the 2023 DLC Phantom Liberty, responded to the prospect of teaming up with Keanu Reeves, who portrayed the iconic Johnny Silverhand, saying, "Oh, man, that's a great question. I think if any film could do a live-action rendition, it could be [Cyberpunk 2077], and I think his character and my character together would be, ‘Whoa.’ So, let's speak that into existence."

The buzz around a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action project isn't just wishful thinking. Back in October 2023, Variety reported that CD Projekt Red (CDPR), the creators of the game, are collaborating with Anonymous Content, known for projects like True Detective and Mr. Robot, to bring the dystopian world to life. While a year has passed without further updates, the success of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners animated series and the live-action adaptation of The Witcher 3 suggests that a Cyberpunk 2077 movie could indeed be on the horizon.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Releases Prequel Manga

In other exciting news related to the Cyberpunk universe, the acclaimed animated series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is expanding its narrative. The first chapter of the prequel manga, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, is now available in selected languages, including Japanese, Polish, Italian, German, Spanish, and French, with Traditional Chinese set to follow on December 20th. English readers will have to wait a bit longer for their version.

Written by Bartosz Sztybor, the anime's producer and CDPR's comic book and animation narrative director, MADNESS delves into the backstory of siblings Rebecca and Pilar before they joined Maine’s crew.
