Based on their expertise and chosen difficulty, players of Dynasty Warriors: Origins may sustain significant damage during gameplay. Newcomers to the series will likely seek ways to restore health early on.
Fortunately, recovering health in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is simple, requiring players to use a special consumable item to restore vitality. The game also offers an auto-recovery feature, ideal for those who prefer not to constantly monitor their health bar to decide when to heal.
As in earlier Dynasty Warriors titles, players can recover health in Dynasty Warriors: Origins by consuming meat buns, which are found by smashing pots around enemy bases. Defeated Enemy Officers may also drop meat buns, but only on Historian and Wayfarer difficulty settings. On Hero and Ultimate Warrior difficulties, these drops no longer occur.
With at least one meat bun in their inventory, players can consume it during battle by pressing Up on the D-Pad. If the inventory is full when a meat bun is collected, it will be automatically used unless the player’s health is already full, in which case it remains on the ground. Initially, players can carry up to three meat buns, but the Meat Bun Glutton skill allows them to expand this limit if needed.
For those who prefer not to manually manage meat buns, the "Auto-Use Meat Buns" option in the Configuration menu automatically consumes them when the wanderer’s health drops below a set threshold. Players can still use meat buns manually with this setting enabled, making it a practical choice even if not fully relied upon.
