Two GTA Titles Are Leaving Netflix Games Next Month

Netflix Games is losing two major titles next month: Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. This isn't a surprise; Netflix licenses games temporarily, and these titles' licenses are expiring on December 13th. Subscribers will see a "Leaving Soon" notification.

Why are these games leaving?

The initial 12-month licensing agreement between Netflix and Rockstar Games is ending. After December 13th, access will be removed for Netflix subscribers. While this coincides with Netflix's subscriber growth in 2023 partially attributed to the GTA trilogy, Rockstar has opted not to renew the license at this time.

What happens next?

Don't worry, you can still play! Both GTA III and Vice City are available for purchase on the Google Play Store as part of "The Definitive Edition" trilogy. Individual games cost $4.99, or get the entire trilogy for $11.99.

Unlike previous removals (like Samurai Shodown V and WrestleQuest), Netflix is providing advance notice. There are even rumors that Rockstar and Netflix are collaborating on bringing remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and Chinatown Wars to the platform in the future.
