A PlayStation studio, newly formed from former Bungie employees, is reportedly developing a MOBA titled "Gummy Bears." Initially conceived at Bungie, the project has undergone a developer shift, with a team of approximately 40 individuals now leading its creation.
This unique MOBA is rumored to draw inspiration from the Super Smash Bros. franchise, employing a percentage-based damage system instead of traditional health bars. Characters are knocked back further based on damage percentage, and high enough damage can result in being knocked off the map – a core mechanic of Super Smash Bros.
Gummy Bears is expected to feature three character classes (Attack, Defense, and Support) and multiple game modes. The game's art style is described as cozy, vibrant, and "lo-fi," a significant departure from Bungie's previous work, aiming to attract a younger audience.
Development, including its time at Bungie, is estimated to have spanned at least three years, beginning in 2020. While a release date remains elusive, the game's current development stage is unclear. The transition to the new PlayStation studio aligns with recent announcements of a new PlayStation studio establishment in Los Angeles.
