Final Fantasy 14 Updates Chaotic Raid Rewards

Final Fantasy 14 has announced an exciting update to the reward system for the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid in Patch 7.16, set to launch on January 21, 2025. Responding to player feedback, Square Enix is introducing a new feature that allows players to exchange Clouddark Demimateria 1 for Clouddark Demimateria 2. This change aims to make it easier for players to acquire sought-after items like the A Half Times Two hairstyle and the Dais of Darkness mount, which require 49 and 75 Clouddark Demimateria 2, respectively.

The Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid, introduced on December 24, challenges up to 24 players to defeat the iconic final boss from A Realm Reborn's World of Darkness raid, incorporating mechanics from Shadowbringers' Eden raid series. Players who successfully complete this raid earn Clouddark Demimateria 1 and 2, with additional amounts of the latter awarded based on the number of first-time clears.

With the new exchange system in Patch 7.16, players can convert their excess Clouddark Demimateria 1 into the more valuable Clouddark Demimateria 2, although the exact exchange rate remains undisclosed. This update is expected to influence the market board prices of the hairstyle and mount, as both items can be bought and sold there.

Square Enix has emphasized that this change is a direct result of player feedback and hinted at potential further adjustments in future updates. Patch 7.16, marking the first content update of 2025, will also feature the finale of the Dawntrail Role Quest series. However, significant job balance updates are not anticipated until Patch 7.2. As Final Fantasy 14 plans to release more raid content throughout 2025, it will be interesting to see how ongoing player feedback continues to shape the game's development.
