Ex-Witcher 3 Head Reveals New Dark Fantasy Game

Rebel Wolves — the studio founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, former game director of The Witcher 3 and co-director of Cyberpunk 2077 — has announced their dark fantasy action-RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker will launch in 2026.

During yesterday's Xbox Games Showcase, Rebel Wolves debuted pre-beta gameplay footage featuring Coen, "a young man transformed into a Dawnwalker — human by day and vampire by night," as he struggles to master his new abilities.

More details will be revealed on June 21 when Rebel Wolves hosts a special event coinciding with the summer solstice — "the day when the boundary between daylight and darkness fades, leading to unforeseen consequences." The 45-minute showcase will feature roughly 15 minutes of fresh gameplay alongside in-depth developer insights.

Notably, the stream will introduce "several core gameplay mechanics," including:

• A directional combat system combining swordplay, magic, and vampiric abilities
• Exploration dynamics across Vale Sangora's world
• The stark contrast between daytime and nighttime gameplay, which critically influences narrative progression

"It’s been incredibly rewarding to finally share more of our vision, and we’re deeply grateful for our community’s overwhelming support," said Tomaszkiewicz. "When we first announced the game in January, we pledged to showcase gameplay this summer — now that moment has come."

The Gameplay Reveal Event on June 21 will demonstrate how Coen develops his powers as a Dawnwalker — a liminal entity caught between the human world and the night's domain.

In The Blood of Dawnwalker, players control Coen, a hybrid being neither fully human nor pure vampire. With just one lunar cycle to either rescue his family or enact vengeance on his creator, every choice carries weight. The central dilemma challenges players: How much humanity would you surrender for those you love?
