"Experience Rural Life in Morikomori: A Ghibli-Inspired Social Sim"

Morikomori Life is now officially available on both Android and iOS, though for now, it’s only accessible in Japan. The game is published by Realfun Studio in this region, while the Chinese version was previously released under Level Infinite, a brand operated by Tencent Games. Interestingly, that Chinese edition was taken offline roughly a year ago.

The Rural Farm Life Sim Is Back

One of the standout features of Morikomori Life is its stunning visual design. The development team has masterfully captured a warm, inviting atmosphere using an art style heavily inspired by anime—more specifically, reminiscent of Studio Ghibli’s iconic aesthetic. This isn’t generic AI-generated imagery; the environments are richly detailed and evoke the nostalgic charm of classic Japanese animation. You’ll feel as though you're walking through scenes lifted straight from a beloved animated film.

In terms of narrative, you step into the shoes of Kaon, a young woman living in the city. One day, she receives a mysterious letter from her grandmother, urging her to return to Komori—a quiet rural village where Kaon spent her childhood. Upon arrival, she begins to rediscover the simple joys of life in the countryside. Thanks to the game’s 3D toon-shaded visuals, the pastoral landscapes feel authentic and emotionally immersive, capturing the essence of rural Japan.

Morikomori Life Lets You Experience Slow-Paced Living

At its core, Morikomori Life is a peaceful simulation experience focused on everyday rural activities. From farming and cooking to fishing and hunting, the gameplay encourages players to slow down and enjoy life at their own pace. You can gather resources like wood and ore, explore the world for rare materials, and gradually build up your homestead.

As you collect items and complete tasks, you’ll unlock new ways to enhance and personalize your home. Dress Kaon however you like, interact with villagers, take on side quests, and prepare meals using ingredients you’ve gathered firsthand. Character customization allows you to express your individuality, while the open-world setting offers plenty of opportunities for exploration and unexpected discoveries.

Currently, Morikomori Life is live on Android in Japan, and players in the region can download it directly from the Google Play Store. As of now, there’s no official word regarding a global release, but fans outside Japan remain hopeful.
