Marvel is reportedly paying King Charles a multi-million dollar fee to film scenes for "Avengers: Doomsday" at the UK royal residence of Windsor Castle. Newly surfaced set photos also hint at the potential return of another surprising Marvel character.
Construction has commenced within Windsor's parkland for several "Avengers: Doomsday" sets. Planning permission documents submitted to the local council reveal one set designated as "Annie Reynolds' House." Since Annie is the mother of Bob Reynolds from "Thunderbolts*/New Avengers," this suggests further childhood flashbacks at this location, potentially revealing more about the origins of Sentry/The Void.
According to The Irish Sun, a second set is named "Luke Cage's House," a name not heard in the Marvel universe for several years. The bulletproof hero from Harlem was last seen in 2018 during the final season of his Netflix series, which shared a universe with shows like "Daredevil," "Jessica Jones," and "Iron Fist." Cage teamed up with these heroes in "The Defenders," a small-screen equivalent of The Avengers, before Netflix cancelled all its Marvel series following the announcement of Disney+.
Marvel is renowned for its secrecy, often using codenames for productions and filming pivotal scenes—like the funeral in "Avengers: Endgame"—with even the actors sometimes unaware of the context. While this could be an elaborate misdirection, fans are speculating about the implications and the possible reasons for Luke Cage's reappearance.
Photos of the "Luke Cage's House" set show a classic rural American home painted in a mustard yellow hue. Although the setting doesn't appear to be Harlem, fans have noted that the color matches the distinct shade associated with the character during his Netflix series.

In recent years, Marvel has started reintegrating characters from "The Defenders" back into the MCU. Charlie Cox's Daredevil has made guest appearances in various projects ahead of the Disney+ reboot "Daredevil: Born Again," and Jessica Jones, played by Krysten Ritter, is set to return in the show's next season. The Punisher, a spin-off character from Daredevil, is also getting a TV special and is rumored to appear alongside Tom Holland in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day."
The exact amount paid to King Charles for the use of Windsor's grounds remains undisclosed, though estimates place it in the millions. Crown Estates, the official landowner, frequently uses revenue from film productions to maintain the property, and also allocates a quarter of its annual profits to the King.
Could King Charles make a cameo appearance? Unfortunately, it seems improbable. Reports indicate the King will be on holiday in Scotland at Balmoral in early August, when the sets are scheduled to be in use.
