Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Adds Playable Jar Jar Binks and More!

Aspyr has unveiled a surprising new playable character for the upcoming re-release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles: Jar Jar Binks! A new trailer showcases the Gungan wielding a large staff in action-packed gameplay.

This isn't the only exciting addition. Aspyr has also revealed nine other new playable characters, with more to come, expanding the already diverse roster from the original 2000 release. The updated Jedi Power Battles aims to recapture the nostalgia of the original while adding fresh content. Features like customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support further enhance the experience.

The recently released trailer spotlights Jar Jar's gameplay, highlighting his signature chaotic style and voice lines. While some fans might have envisioned a Darth Jar Jar-esque twist, he'll instead be utilizing a staff in combat. Jar Jar Binks will be available when Jedi Power Battles launches on January 23rd, but pre-orders are open now.

Newly Revealed Playable Characters:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Rodian
  • Flame Droid
  • Gungan Guard
  • Destroyer Droid
  • Ishi Tib
  • Rifle Droid
  • Staff Tusken Raider
  • Weequay
  • Mercenary

Aspyr's commitment to expanding the Jedi Power Battles roster is evident. The addition of these diverse characters, including familiar faces like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, alongside various droid types, promises a significantly enriched gameplay experience. The inclusion of multiple Gungans, with both Jar Jar and a Gungan Guard, is particularly noteworthy.

With the release date fast approaching, fans can soon experience these new additions firsthand. Aspyr's past experience remastering classic Star Wars titles, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, offers hope that Jedi Power Battles will be a satisfying update for long-time fans.
