Blue Protocol Global Release Canceled as Japan Servers Close Down

Bandai Namco announced that Blue Protocol will end its Japan service on January 18, 2025, and its planned global launch with Amazon Games has been entirely canceled. The company cited challenges in delivering a service that meets player expectations as the primary reason for the shutdown.

In a statement, Bandai Namco expressed regret over the decision: “We’ve concluded that continuing to provide a service that fully satisfies our players is beyond our current capabilities.” The company also shared its disappointment in halting the global release collaboration with Amazon Games.

As the game nears its end, Bandai Namco plans to support Blue Protocol with new content and updates until its final day. Players can no longer purchase or refund the in-game currency, Rose Orbs, but will receive 5,000 Rose Orbs monthly from September 2024 to January 2025, plus 250 Rose Orbs daily. The Season 9 pass is now free, with the final update, Chapter 7, set for release on December 18, 2024.

Blue Protocol Global Release Canceled as Japan Servers Close Down

Launched in Japan in June 2023, Blue Protocol initially drew over 200,000 concurrent players. However, server issues triggered emergency maintenance on release day, contributing to a rapid decline in player engagement and growing dissatisfaction.

Despite early excitement, Blue Protocol struggled to retain its audience and fell short of Bandai Namco’s financial goals. The company’s fiscal report for the year ending March 31, 2024, highlighted the game’s underperformance, which ultimately led to the decision to terminate its services.
