The Blood of Dawnwalker: A Dark Fantasy RPG Unveiled
Rebel Wolves' recently held game reveal event shed light on their upcoming open-world dark fantasy action-RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker. This narrative-driven experience plunges players into the role of Coen, a Dawnwalker—a being existing between human and vampire—in the fictional 14th-century world of Vale Sangora.
Coen, unlike typical protagonists, is portrayed as emotionally vulnerable and relatable. His journey begins with a confrontation against Brencis, an ancient vampire who has subjugated Vale Sangora. Coen's mission: save his family within a 30-day/night timeframe. While the game adheres to this timeframe, the developers emphasize a flexible gameplay pace. The reveal trailer showcases Coen's unique abilities, hinting at both vampiric powers and a form of occult magic.
Addressing fan queries on Discord, Rebel Wolves clarified the nature of Dawnwalkers: they are not simply hybrids but a distinct entity. The game's magic system is described as less flamboyant than in typical fantasy settings, focusing on rituals, amulets, and summonings rather than flashy spells.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is touted as a "narrative sandbox," offering significant player agency and freedom in pursuing the central goal through diverse means. The game will be non-linear, with player choices shaping the world. While multiplayer is absent to preserve the single-player experience, romanceable characters from various races (including uriashi, kobolds, and potentially werewolves) will be present.
Developed by former CD Projekt Red developers (known for The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077), The Blood of Dawnwalker is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, though a specific release date remains unannounced.
