AMD has unveiled the Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex 2025, building on the momentum from the RX 9070 XT released in March. Although Team Red has kept details under wraps, we know this new mid-range graphics card is designed with 1080p gaming in mind.
The AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT comes equipped with 32 Compute Units and a robust 16GB of GDDR6 memory. Given its compact size, it's no surprise that it consumes less power than its predecessor, with a Total Board Power (TBP) ranging from 150-182W. With half the Compute Units and power consumption of the RX 9070 XT, it's expected to be less powerful but potentially more budget-friendly. Unfortunately, AMD has not yet disclosed the pricing or release date for the RX 9060 XT.
While it's frustrating that AMD hasn't revealed the cost of the Radeon RX 9060 XT, it's likely to be priced similarly to the Intel Arc B580 and the recently launched RTX 5060, both of which fall within the $250-$300 range. These competing cards have power budgets of 145W and 190W, respectively. AMD seems poised to target the same market segment.
When the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT finally hits the market, it will offer gamers shopping in the $300 range a third option from a different manufacturer. If AMD manages to keep the price within this range, the RX 9060 XT will stand out with its 16GB of VRAM, surpassing the 8GB offered by Nvidia and the 12GB from Intel.
Although I'll need to test it in the lab to confirm its performance, the larger frame buffer could ensure the RX 9060 XT remains relevant longer as games increasingly demand more video memory. The exact cost of the RX 9060 XT remains to be seen, but it's shaping up to be a compelling choice for budget-conscious gamers.
