Tarneeb is a card game for two teams, each comprising players seated opposite each other at a table. Using a standard 52-card deck, play proceeds counter-clockwise. Each player attempts to predict the number of "Allmat" (tricks) their team will win in each round.
The player winning the bid to declare "Tarneeb" throws a type of paper onto the floor. Other players must then throw the same type of paper. The first player to successfully match the "Tarneeb" paper wins the trick ("Bamh"). If a player doesn't have a matching paper, they forfeit the opportunity to declare "Tarneeb." "Tarneeb" papers are superior to any other paper type; the player throwing the strongest "Tarneeb" paper wins, unless another player throws a stronger one.
The round concludes when all players have played. Points are tallied. A bidding team only scores if they achieve their predicted number of "Allmat" or more. If successful, the number of "Allmat" won is added to their score; the opposing team receives no points. If unsuccessful, the number of "Allmat" won by the opposing team is added to their score, and the bidding team loses points.
If either team achieves a score of 13 without bidding for 13, 16 points are added to their total. If a team bids for and achieves 13 "Allmat", they receive 26 points. Conversely, if a team bids for 13 and fails, they lose 16 points.
The game ends when one team reaches a total score of 41 or more; that team is declared the winner.
