Hyper Light Breaker boasts a diverse arsenal, and a strong weapon is crucial for any successful build. While starting with basic equipment, players unlock opportunities to acquire more powerful weapons tailored to their preferred playstyles. This game blends roguelike and extraction elements, resulting in a unique approach to weapon acquisition.

Acquiring New Weapons

Exploring Overgrowths is the primary method for discovering new gear. While exploration naturally yields loot, focusing on sword or pistol icons on the map will lead directly to Blades (melee) and Rails (ranged) respectively. Blades offer diverse movesets and abilities, while Rails provide varied ranged functionalities. Both weapon types have varying rarity levels, with gold being the most powerful. As expected, rarer weapons possess superior stats. To save weapons for later runs, use the Cache function instead of equipping them immediately. These cached weapons can then be equipped before starting a new run.

Obtaining New Starting Weapons

Beyond finding weapons during gameplay, players can purchase new starting weapons from merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, only the Blades merchant is accessible. Unlocking the Rails merchant requires sufficient materials to repair their shop. Merchants have limited stock, but their inventories refresh periodically. Check back often to see what new items become available.

Weapon Upgrades

Weapon upgrades are available from Outpost merchants, but require unlocking the upgrade feature by increasing merchant affinity. This is achieved by collecting Golden Rations, a rare resource found through exploration or cycle resets. Use Golden Rations judiciously, as they are difficult to obtain. Remember, equipped weapons lose durability (represented by a bar under the icon) upon death, eventually breaking after repeated failures.
