Video: GTA San Andreas banger remaster with 51 mods

A grassroots effort is breathing new life into Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Dissatisfied with the official remaster, dedicated fans are crafting their own superior versions of the classic game.

The enduring appeal of GTA: San Andreas continues to inspire. Shapatar XT's remaster, incorporating over 50 modifications, is a prime example.

Graphical enhancements are extensive, addressing long-standing issues. The infamous "flying trees" bug, a notorious glitch in the original, has been significantly mitigated through improved map loading, providing players with earlier visibility of obstacles. The game's vegetation has also undergone a visual overhaul.

Many mods enhance the game's world immersion and realism. Details like scattered debris, dynamic NPCs performing everyday tasks (such as car repairs), active airport operations, and improved signage and graffiti contribute to a richer, more believable environment.

Gameplay improvements are equally impressive. A new over-the-shoulder camera perspective has been implemented, alongside refined weapon recoil, updated sound effects, and realistic bullet impact visuals. CJ's arsenal boasts updated weapon models, and the ability to freely fire weapons in all directions while driving has been added.

A first-person perspective is also available, featuring detailed vehicle interiors (including visible steering wheels) and realistic weapon handling animations.

A comprehensive car mod pack, including a Toyota Supra, introduces vehicles with enhanced detail, including functional headlights, taillights, and animated engines.

Numerous quality-of-life improvements have been included. The in-game shopping experience is streamlined, eliminating lengthy animation sequences. Clothing changes are now instantaneous, allowing for quick outfit customization. Even CJ himself has received a visual update.
